After several years and the last six months of detailed community engagement events and design work, proposals for the delivery of affordable rental housing on the site of the former police station in Pewsey are nearly complete. We will be placing documentation for everyone to review and comment on in Pewsey Library during June/July 2023 and we hope that as many readers as possible will find the opportunity to read through and write comments. All of the documents will also be available on this website where possible.
The consultation will last through July for six weeks. There will be a description of what is proposed showing the architects’ drawings and the results of various site investigations and surveys that have been undertaken. Forms for comments will be available. As always there will also be forms for joining Pewsey Community Land Trust.
This is a community project to supply much needed social rented houses at a rent that people can afford within the parish of Pewsey. It will be owned by the Land Trust for the sole benefit of the community in perpetuity. It is important that everyone who lives or works in the parish of Pewsey is involved all the way through from the beginning to the finished project. This six week consultation continues the Community Engagement held so far.
We hope the remaining consultations, examination and referendum will all take place in time for the Community Right to Build Order to be made by the early next year so we can get nearer to starting the actual building. We need to be sure first that the plans are the best they can be, take account of need to mitigate against climate change and the need to help the ecology as well as being built to last and that the community is fully involved and supportive.
We will be holding an Open Morning on 15th July from 09:30 – 13:00 in the former Police house, for anyone who would like to see inside the existing building and the parking area at the back, so they can get an idea of “before and after”. All the Architect’s design work will be on show, and it will be possible to talk to members of the development Steering Group about the proposals.
